Science Resource Adoption

Science Resource Adoption Information

Science Educators of Sweetwater #1,

The Science Adoption Committee has met and narrowed down the options for resources. Science resources are available for teachers using the full access codes in the Resource Link below. These resources are to be piloted throughout the next four weeks (see specific book title list attached). Staff will have an opportunity to complete an online survey with recommendations of their choice. Teacher feedback surveys can be found on the Science Resource Page. Please complete the survey by November 13, 2020.

The Science Resource Adoption Committee will convene again in November to see presentations on the narrowed selections. Using teacher feedback from piloting and presentations ratings, final selections will be determined on November 19, 2020.

Thank you for sharing your expertise through feedback and input.

A few notes to help guide you:

1.  Please, please explore Classroom Slides!  They offer an alternative method of lesson delivery via editable/downloadable Google or PowerPoint slides.  Teachers recommended them, we built them, and teachers love them!   In the curriculum, they reside at the Lesson level under "Digital Resources."  There's also a link to info about them in the Resources section of the review site.

2.  The "6-8 Teacher Navigation Overview" video is highly recommended prior to exploring the demo account.   When you're ready to explore other aspects of the program more deeply, you'll find navigational videos for Differentiation and Reporting Tools on the reviewer site too.

3.  The demo account access info is under the "Access" section of the review site.  Log in as a Teacher when prompted.

4.  Nuts and bolts info, such as number of lessons, time to teach, unit types etc. can be found under the "Resources" section in the "Course Structure for 6-8" link.

5.  Reviewers always find the digital unit guides informative and really helpful for decision making (within the demo account; there's a unit guide for every unit).   Especially the Unit Overview, Unit Map and Progress Build sections under "Planning for the Unit."   Under the teacher section they like the 3D Statements, Standards and Goals and Lesson Overview.

5.  Teachers seem to love the "Coherence Flow Charts" available in each Unit Guide .  The Coherence Flow Charts are under the "Printable Resources" section of the Unit Guide.   See the right side of the screen shot below.
